Why FPV

... picture the scenario, you are located on a farm-track out in the countryside. Your are surrounded by equipment, much of which you have designed yourself.
A lowly GWS SlowStick sits on the 'runway' beside you, kitted out with a tiny video camera, a video downlink, and a newly developed long-range uplink.

You put on the goggles, take a deep breath, and accelerate down the runway, springing into the air on a dead-calm Sunday morning.
Everything seems to work, no video noise.…

New Videos

Okay I put 3 new videos up today. They are of the Wethersfield Cove area in Connecticut. It is the oldest town in the whole New England area. I was raised in Wethersfield, so I knew this was a nice place to FPV. The large building next to us is the DMV. It was the old Connecticut Jail. After a few flights, my brother Matt and I became very comfortable with our surroundings and felt like we can make it under some trees. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

First Flight since.....

Fhew....I had my first FPV flight since my surgery and wow what a great time. To have 20/15 with no glasses on. Okay so I had a few problems today with my set-up. My first problem was the Yellow Jacket Pro RX just dosn't work that good with my camera tx. I ordered the new Stinger Pro camera tx that is mached for the Yellow Jacket, so that part will be fixed. Then my next major problem was that my elevator servo came unatached. Tried to fix it with velcro, that's all I had, it worked for one flig…

Been 3 Weeks.......

Can you believe it's been 3 weeks since I have FPV'd! I can't. I have been busy trying to find new places to FPV and I have some good news. Tomorrow we are going to Stanley Park in New Britain, CT. It has a large field and a great big pond with sprinklers in the center. Also an apple orchard in Glastonbury, CT and a farm in Manchester, CT wants me to fly there land and give them the footage of my flight. I can't wait. Plus we found a great place next to the Wethersfield Cove to FPV. It is the ol…

Todd,
looks like you have all it takes...
- first set your camera into a vertical position,
- fly up to 300 m and try to follow a straight line or a road for example on 500 or 600 m then come back following a parallel axis. Do not hesitate to turn the motor off to have less vibrations.
- next issue is positionning : the best thing is streamong position live to the ground but it takes specific equipment. What you can do is find a small format gps to record the track

Then send me the whole thing and we will give you an idea of potential outputs.
Do not hesitate to start by just shooting the vertical video. Let me know how it goes.

Hey Man, Thanks for all the data!! You are one of our first avid Users. Thanks! I see you are even rocking the design :) ... Let us know what we can do to make this site better.

We would really love to get you hooked up with our LiveProcessing Software so you can send a GPS signal down with your video, and have the image pasted into Google Earth LIVE!

Let me know how/when we can hook up on IM or phone to discuss.

Thanks for participating, Rock On!

Hi Todd, I would like to encourage you to write a blog post about your setup and about the places you like to fly. You can also start a FPV group if you like, the possibilities are endless with this Ning platform. Please spread the word in the existing FPV community on YouTube. I really tried to gather up as many vids as I could and get the ball rolling, but its going to be up to users like you to get a good library of geotagged FPV videos going. Thanks for Participating!

Hi Todd, When you go to the add video page there should be a youtube/google video link. This will bring up the form where you can past the embed code from youtube (to the right of the video at the bottom). Once it is linked, you can geotag it. Let me know if this works, and I can make an instruction page if necessary.

Hi Todd! Glad to have you join our network. You can link up your YouTube vids here and geotag them. We will have a proper mapping site and Google Earth feed ASAP.
