Why should we work for making UAV's?

Hello everybody.........

Today, everybody is interested in UAV's including defence agencies, Governments , Industry and even students. A lot of work has been done in this field and commercially some autopilots are available easily. So then why should we work hard to implement something thats been already done?

My opinion on this is that this is an emerging field. Yes, although things have been implemented but they may not be the best!!! Systems are available but there mi…

Aerial Photography Helmet v 1.0

This may look funny but it works well. While flying I can keep my eyes on plane and monitor camera's search view from the Aiptek's 2.5" monitor. The patch antenna is always pointed where i'm looking at (at the plane). All in one neat package, easy to take on the road.

Back at the National Heritage Board and on my way to the US

So I'm back at the National Heritage Board working with protected buildings on the National Negister. Or rather the digitalization and presentation of them. Pics, GIS - coordinates that type o' business. I'm project manager and am currently having a lot of fun as we're getting ready to launch a new improved informationsystem. I'll be doing this until the last of august when I, if everything works out according to my plans will be moving to the US (NC).
See ya over there!

Modifying Lumix FX01 for AP

I have spent over 5 hours now taking apart Lumix FX01 camera to install RC trigger on it. Tough case :) Now its done. First you have to remove all screws and then carefully open the top. Cameras shutter switch is three phase switch. I soldered one wire to lower right leg and other to switch case (ground?). Soldering requires good soldering skills, there aren't much room for error :) Now camera shutter works when connecting these two wires together. FX01 is perfect solution for Aerial Mapping,…

First blood

Last saturday I made a hole at the bottom of the Easy Star and mounted Ixus I (SD100 in US) to shoot pictures beneath. Stuffed the new BT-335 logger inside and throw the whole bunch in to air.

Weather was -2 celsius, sky was par…

Starting out

Found this community yesterday. I have flown traditional AP with my Multiplex Easy Star + Ixus + 2.4 Ghz video downlink for a half year now. My goal has been to shoot landscapes and buildings (http://picasaweb.google.com/koiravahti/Ilmakuvaus2007). This site inspired me to look for map-imaging. After instant messaging with Jeffrey I orderer Globalsat BT-335 GPS logger from expansys. It should arrive this week. I'll post experien…
